Biographical notes and vague detail

Well, I am an English photographer, based primarily in London and I create ever so slightly strange photos and short films involving women in impalpably erotic situations. This began by mistake, or at least the chance meeting between a voyeur and an exhibitionist upon a dissecting table, leading to myself picking up a camera and taking some nice photos. This was an accident as well, since I had at that time had no formal training and very little idea how this box of glass and mirrors and buttons worked.

Despite my ignorance, something clicked and encouraged by initial results I began to shoot more and more, began printing and developing my own work (for I am of the last generation of film photographers – now sadly seduced into the point and click bitch-a-thon of the digital age) which I gradually began forming into a blend of the erotic, the surreal and the anhedonic.

I do object to the accusation of misogyny that is sometimes slung my way. To think this of my work means that you haven't quite got your noodle around what I do, but thanks for taking the time to look anyway.

More recently I have begun making films. This project was originally to be one long piece called "A Special Form of Denial" which features over twenty performers (many of whom are regulars in my work) and has been an occasional project many years in the making. To break this up a little I have been working on a series of short films, many of which are presented here in the film section – as you might expect.

As well as allowing me to expand upon my thoughts, the films also allow me to put my interest in music composition to good use, as the soundtracks are largely composed by myself under the banner of my "These Papercuts" solo musical project.

I have exhibited in Europe, the US and Asia, I have had my photography published here and abouts and have been nominated for awards. My films have been shown in diverse parts of the world at festivals, exhibition screenings and on television.

I have done all the usual author/band portrait stuff as well, though am keeping weddings to an absolute minimum these days.
